About Drawing Dreams Foundation
Drawing Dreams Foundation is a three-year old Berkeley, California-based nonprofit organization that donates art
supplies to hospitalized children through children’s hospitals’ Artist-in-Residence and Child Life programs.
Talented children and more than 1400 professional artists, illustrators and animators from 72 countries support our
mission. You can see their work in our Children-Helping-Children and Artists-Helping-Children galleries.
Through our arrangements with manufacturers and suppliers of artists’ materials for children we are able to purchase
art supplies at or below wholesale cost and distribute them to hospitals. We also distribute interactive video games and
DVDs that are donated to us. Some of these materials are given to hospitalized children as birthday or Christmas gifts,
or as departing gifts when they leave the hospital to go home. But most are used for in-care therapy, “a powerful tool
for our patients in coping with and processing their hospital experience,” as one of our hospital’s art therapists put it.
In 2013, Drawing Dreams distributed art supplies and videos valued at more than $96,000 to forty-two children’s
hospitals in twenty-five states. Our goal is to increase our giving to include hospitals in all fifty states, and to inspire
artists everywhere to donate their talent and time at local children’s hospitals.
Our work is funded by the auction of art donated by our artist supporters and by contributions from individuals and
foundations. Drawing Dreams is a 501 (c)(3) public charity registered with the State of California Office of the Attorney
General Registry of Charitable Trusts. Our tax ID number is 26-3917721.
